Our Story
Some of the most meaningful things in the world start small—a garage, a late night, a single piece of wood, and a vision.
The Newport Grain began exactly like that.
I’m a college student who fell in love with woodworking not because someone handed me a blueprint, but because I picked up a tool and felt something click. What began as a hobby quickly became an obsession: a pursuit of craftsmanship that turned my free time into a sense of purpose.
Since then, The Newport Grain has grown into more than woodworking. It is a collection of handcrafted cutting boards, surf-inspired artwork, and carefully selected secondhand pieces restored and reimagined for a new life. Some creations begin with premium hardwood. Others begin as overlooked furniture, decor, or luxury items with quality and character worth preserving. Each one is transformed through thoughtful design, patient craftsmanship, and the coastal spirit that inspires the brand.
This isn’t a factory. There’s no assembly line, no mass production, and no interest in making things that feel disposable.
Every handcrafted board is shaped, sanded, finished, and inspected by me. I work with hardwoods chosen for their beauty, durability, and natural character because I believe the pieces in your home should be as thoughtful as the moments you create around them. No two grains, shapes, restorations, or works of art are exactly alike—and that’s the point.
The Newport Grain was born from a lifestyle as much as a craft.
Rooted in Newport’s coastal energy, the brand draws inspiration from surf culture, ocean living, fresh food, good company, and an appreciation for the finer simple things in life. That inspiration can be found in the shape of a surfboard cutting board, the movement of a wave captured in a piece of artwork, or the renewed character of a secondhand item that might otherwise have been forgotten.
Whether you’re preparing fresh food after a morning at the beach, building a charcuterie spread for friends, adding surf-inspired artwork to your walls, or bringing home a refurbished statement piece, The Newport Grain creates objects meant to become part of your lifestyle—not just take up space in it.
Restoration is an important part of that mission. I believe well-made things deserve another chapter. By finding secondhand and luxury pieces with lasting potential, then repairing, refinishing, or artistically reimagining them, I’m able to preserve their character while creating something distinctive for a new owner. It’s a more thoughtful approach to luxury—one built around individuality, craftsmanship, and giving exceptional objects a second life.
Woodworking and restoration have humbled me in the best way. They’ve taught me patience, precision, creativity, and respect for every material and object that enters the workshop. I’m constantly growing in this craft, and every piece I create today carries everything I learned from the one before it.
Nothing leaves my hands until it meets my standards. If it isn’t something I would be proud to place in my own home, it doesn’t ship. It’s that simple.
When you purchase from The Newport Grain, you aren’t buying something pulled from an assembly line. You’re choosing a one-of-a-kind piece created or restored with intention—and supporting a young craftsman who takes your trust seriously.
Thank you for caring about quality, originality, sustainability, and the story behind what you bring into your home. I don’t take that lightly—and I never will.

About Me
I am a student born and raised in Southern California, anticipating to graduate from UC Irvine with a degree in Business Economics, starting The Newport Grain is something that has only made more and more sense to me. I grew up skateboarding and surfing and with that came the need to be handy. Whether it be building a ramp or fixing a ding, I’ve always been building or fixing things with those sports. After getting my hands on some saws and drills and making my first ever halfpipe to skate, I’d began to realize my love for building and fixing things. So in every piece of my work is that little rascal skateboard surfer part of me, whether it be the process or the product I’ve found that producing these cutting boards has brought the same joys these sports bring me. It’s almost analogical to the way you must learn to get back up after getting knocked down skating, I say this confidently because what truly defines a skilled woodworker is how they can fix their mistakes — or how they bounce back up after being knocked down. All this to say that when I found passion and my own studies colliding, I knew I was doing something right and to only continue feeding my dreams, and more importantly follow a path where I will enjoy my work. Yes, I am just one person, of course with the help of my family and friends and my business studies, but I am also a perfectionist who will spend embarrassing amounts of time to fix the tiniest little thing. I say all of this in the name of transparency and to show that every order and individual customers needs matter to me, there is no fancy warehouse just me in the garage. The Newport Grain is a way for me to express my desire to leave a positive impact on the world and people around me, through my passion and heart and the belief that life is too short to be negative the hope is for me to spread this kindness to other people through the “grain”.
